He is the first Croatian to win such award. He is the second to win an award despite the loss of his team after Lionel Messi. Belgium's Thibaut Courtois won the golden glove award England's Harry Kane won the golden boot. He is the first to win that kind of award since 1986 Garry Lineker won such.
