Do you have to be business inclined to become a successful business person?

Hello fam!

How are you doing?

Take things easy on yourselves,we will soon be out of this crisis.

Due to this pandemic that has shook the world, most things will go on-line. And

we have to take business to the highest level if we are concerned about our

customer base, our growth and the developing world.

You don't have to be business inclined to become a successful business person.

Every one is business inclined as long as you have a good or service to offer in

exchange of money. Either as an employer or employee.

I was oppurtune to interview a successful business man, Mr. Mfon Usoro. Let's

hear all he had to say.

Me: Good evening sir.

Mr.:Good Evening.

Me: How was your day?

Mr.: Fine. Thanks.

Me: Thanks for allowing us the opportunity.

Mr.: You are welcome.

Me: Is business for a certain set of people?

Mr.: Originally every body is business inclined as long as you have a good or

service to offer in return for money that is business. So anything that you do

and earn money from is actually a business.  For example, if I am a teacher, as I

teach   in return I have a fixed  salary, and the difference is that the teacher is

under the government or other business person, so the teacher does not really

have to be worried about the business because at the end of the month the

salary but if you look at it critically, the teacher has to teach the students well,

the parents pay the school fees from which the teacher's salary is derived, so

that is business!  Some people with income security for example those with a six

figure salary, may not want to do business because they feel their salary can

sustain them.

Me: So what makes a business successful?

Mr.: You have to put in hard work to get the success which may not be

immediate. There are people who want yo succeed and those who  do not want

to take responsibility and face crisis mostly when the are working with other

people but always want to be part of the  success story. So try to put in hard

work and be part of other people's success. Opening your own business means

that you are ready to take responsibility, and you will have to face a lot of things

which you must be prepared for.

Me: Thank you very much. Another question is, how do i start a business? Do I

just start or do I need passion? Are there things I need to know?

Mr.: Naturally I have discovered that making it big in business is not difficult,

though most people feel that it is weird to see people celebrate you when you

dream big except you leave the state. Business is not all  about money and

passion, money will come in later on but there is more to business than passion,

passion won't take you any where. For example, I had passion to be a soft ware

engineer, technology and inventions, in 2005, I had a dream and in that dream I

saw that in the next decade, social media take over the world. after having

morning devotion of which my family and I prayed over it, I started building my

own social media platform and it needed some financing of which i didn't have,

I realized that these things I have passion for will not take me to that height I

needed to attain in life. So I  thought of an idea that will help me raise fund and

will also help me grow technologically. I started selling, I registered my business

name with an indigenous name, a lot of people queried but I told them I wanted

a reflection of my identity, after the Chinese who always take their identity and

tradition alongside, every where they are found. I still had my passion in mind,

with profit making and self actualization as my goal. I ventured into on-line /

digital marketing which will still help the tech part of me and add money too. In

summary, a business person needs a drive and  these three things drive me, first

is my passion, second is income, third is how or what to give back to the society.

There are a lot of opportunities in Akwa Ibom state. Also, you need to

understand how your body dynamics and business works, so that when you

meet a challenge in business, you won't regret. Look at existing challenges and

find solutions, you have to be versatile and a bit trendy and lastly you have to be

your own unique brand.

Me: So how much do you need in business? And how can one go into buying

and selling properly?

Mr.:You need idea mostly and opportunities, you need to learn to be curious,

sensitive and inquisitive and mostly you need to sacrifice your time and money

to learn a lot.  Also take your time to know what works in your environment

what you know will keep your customer base as community.  Learn of those

goods that will keep you in the demand market. Don't let any opportunity pass

you by, they may not come back.

The market has two faces, you need to know these two faces to be able to buy

and sell. For importers and if you know how to import you will know how to buy

and sell with good profit. Since China is our greatest supplier of goods and most

services before you go into importation, you have to know the two sides of

Chinese market and how it works.

Me:  What is your advise to our young generation up coming entrepreneurs?

Mr.: Always find solutions, this will help you. It may be from your day to day

activities and trends. Do more  of solutions to people's day to day life , those

things that people need to survive on like consumables not necessarily food

items, for example cosmetics or fashion you will grow in business. It is easy to

become a . Also  learn to create a space in your business where people can

invest in you for you to be relevant but be wise, they may steal your ideas and

push you aside. Lastly create your brand with uniqueness and be your brand

ambassador, know your customer target.  Consider your customer's complaints,

demands and suggestions.

Let your entire focus be on your customers, it will help you business grow.

Me: Is importation that expensive?

Mr.:  No it is not, but it depends on what you want to import. You need to relate

well with the importers to get the quality, style, design that will sell well in your

area having your customer target in mind.

Me: Thanks a lot for your time, I have really learnt a lot,I am really grateful

Mr.: You are welcome, any time any day.

Please share with your family and friends.
