Following the rapid spread of this deadly virus COVID-19, Health workers in Akwa Ibom State have called on the government to apply partial lockdown policy as one of the measures in containing the raging COVID-19 disease currently ravaging the country in a communique issued by a conglomeration of health care professional bodies being a coalition of the leadership of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA),National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) and the Association of Association of Medical Laboratory Scientist of Nigeria (AMLSN) in a meeting held at the Pacemaker conference hall, Doctor's Mess, Uyo on Monday 23rd march 2020. Just when we are tackling COVID-19 a new one has emerged from China. it is called Hantavirus. It is a rare but deadly disease caused by a virus and can cause varied syndromes in people worlwide like hantavirus pulmonary syndrome(HPS) . It is spread by mice and rats. They shed the virus in their urine, droppings and saliva. Sources have it that a man has been tested positive of this virus. So its important that we have an idea of what it is.
